Sab is a novel written by Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda, writer and Cuban poet, in 1841. The book deals with the situation of slaves and women in nineteenth century Cuba from the story of the protagonist, the slave Sab. Still a colony, Cuba at the time of the novel had about 400,000 slaves.
