For Purépecha speakers who learned to write the language in primary school and whose teaching aroused their curiosity to understand how to know the meaning of words, the collection "La Construcción de la Palabra Purepecha" is offered. This is an effort to share grammatical knowledge with the Purepecha-speaking reader so that they understand the characteristics that will be studied when considering words such as jorhenkuarhini, jorhenkuarhiri, jorhentperakua, jorhentpini, or jorhentpiri. The small "parts" that are present or absent in a word make up the meaning. In this first volume we present the "parts" that join at the end of the word and that in grammar are called enclitics. Each lesson will explain the meaning and use of each one of the 17 enclitics among those that the Purépecha possesses and at the end of each one of them a bibliography of the studies carried out by linguists is offered and that will enrich their knowledge. In the years to come, volume 11 will be published with the study of those "parts" that enrich the word with meaning. Subsequently, those that, in addition to adding meaning, modify the characteristics of the verb and the way in which words are organized to communicate (volumes III and IV) will be dealt with. Cristina Monzón is a professor-researcher at the Center for Anthropological Studies at El Colegio de Michoacán. Her work on Amerindian languages has focused since 1988 on Purépecha. She has published grammatical studies, edited a collection of traditional tales.
