In this book, four Latin American historical fictions published during the second third of the 20th century are analyzed, that is, in the midst of the fight for women's suffrage in the region. All the texts were written by women and each one reconstructs the life of a historical female character. For this reason, this essay focuses on the tensions between the feminist debates of the time and the management of temporality and emotions in La Quintrala (1935), a play by the Chilean Magdalena Petit; La Perricholi (1935), radio soap opera by the Peruvian María Jesús Alvarado; Madame Lynch (1957), historical novel by the Paraguayan María Concepción Leyes de Chaves; and Leona Vicario.
