"Perspectivas Sociojurídicas de la Migración" studies the phenomenon of Venezuelan migration in Latin America, with special attention to the Colombian context. Each chapter explores issues that this phenomenon of human mobility has generated and exposes the difficulties experienced by the migrant population in accessing services and fully exercising their rights, as well as the management challenges that this reality imposes on the authorities. Thus, analyzes are presented on the right to due process, family unity, refuge, access to health and education, nationality and statelessness. Likewise, a study on the situation of forced return experienced by the Venezuelan population and an analysis of the management of Venezuelan migration in Peru are included.
This book seeks to fill a gap in the literature, still quite incipient, on migration in the region and Venezuelan migration in particular. In addition, it strengthens the conversation about migration management in Colombia, based on a rigorous academic analysis, with an explicit purpose of influencing the public agenda. For this, the lessons learned are recognized, the obstacles are exposed and concrete challenges are identified on which the national and territorial authorities should focus their efforts. Finally, those who contribute to this work gather diverse profiles that, from their academic and private professional exercises, provide expert and qualified visions on migration in Latin America.
