Wary of the gaze is an invitation to understand the films written and directed by Fernando Vallejo and his subsequent autofictional literary work from a new perspective. Instead of focusing on comparing the representation and the referent —as critical studies usually approach Vallejo's creative project—, this book seeks to delve into the motives and mechanisms used in his cinematographic and literary work, so that the spectator-reader directs his look to question the artifice with which their creations work to make us believe their truth.
