The neighboring territories of Chiapas and Guatemala, whose historical dependencies have developed based on their proximity, have rarely been analyzed together by historiography. In certain aspects they share more with each other than with the rest of the Mexican Republic or the Central American territory, spaces in which they are often inserted when it comes to locating them in broader historiographical discussions. The works gathered here intend to suggest to the reader analytical approaches to different themes present in the nineteenth-century history of Chiapas and Guatemala, especially from the first two thirds of the century. With the publication of these contributions it is sought that the visions, sometimes contrasting, allow us to appreciate the changes in the two historiographies,
