The will of this project is to build a History of the fantastic in the narrative of the various Latin American literatures (including Brazil), in order to be able to offer a panoramic vision of the cultivation of this category between the 1830s , the moment in which the first samples of the fantastic began to appear in Latin America, and 1940, the year in which the famous Anthology of the fantastic literature of Borges, Bioy and Ocampo was published, a work who contributed decisively to the vindication of the fantastic in the Hispanic sphere. Although we already have some specific works on several of these literatures in particular, most of the studies have a fundamentally critical orientation or are circumscribed to brief chronological periods, which is why they compose a fragmentary image of the history and evolution of the fantastic. Latin American.
