This anthology includes poems from the three books by Rubén Urbizagástegui: On life and death in the slaughterhouse (1978), Walking and singing on the gentle belly of an old lizard (1996) and Virunhuaira (2011). The poetry that links these three books is the memory of a longed-for region, a kind of Andean Arcadia, called Virunhuaira, the poet's place of origin, which mitigates the uprooting of the places where his vital journey occurs, and to which he returns always in a lyrical exercise of memory and an idyllic appropriation of its sentimental geography, in opposition to the harsh and sometimes cruel city that houses it.
