This volume presents a journey through some emblematic exiles of the 20th century from an Ibero-American perspective, which force us to review fundamental categories in the political construction of the contemporary Western world such as the nation state, citizenship, anti-Semitism, totalitarianism, memory, migration or cosmopolitanism. Such was the case, among others, of the Central European Jewish exile during the years of Nazi-fascism, the Spanish Republican exile of 1939 and those that later took place in the Southern Cone, without forgetting the precedents that the Ibero-American tradition of exiles finds. Already in the emancipatory processes of the 19th century, the migratory movements of Jews from Eastern Europe to Argentina that began several decades later, nor the always latent problem of return.
