With the use of 20 photographs stored in the Historical Collections of the Francisco Xavier Clavigero Library (BFXC) of the Universidad Iberoamericana Mexico City, a group of historians, art historians and a librarian from IBERO and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) discovered a hidden mural almost a century ago in a school in the Portales neighborhood, in Mexico City.

The Mtra. Teresa Matabuena Peláez, director of the BFXC, commented that the images are in a folder with an art nouveau design , which as the only information has a label with the legend 'Pinturas Colonia Portales' attached to one of its sides.

This folder is part of the Collection that Mr. Manuel Arango donated in 2012 to the IBERO Library, made up of 2,900 books, contemporary and old (some dating from 1555), mainly Mexican art; among which there are exhibition catalogues, museum catalogues, books on the life and work of artists, and books on sculpture and muralism.
