"Los Expedientes Secretos de Belgrano" offers for the first time an exhaustive biographical and historical investigation, which documents each find, providing unpublished documentation . Guillermo Pesaresi inquired in the General Archive of the Indies (Seville), in hundreds of judicial and administrative files of the General Archive of the Nation (Buenos Aires), together with the profuse personal and private correspondence found there, and others in the Archives of Bolivia and Paraguay. Therefore, on what is already known through the books of Gelman (1996), Bravo Tedín (2003) or the bibliographic compendium of Pigna (2016), the author offers a history so complete and documented that it will become an essential tool for who tries to investigate the commercial life of Buenos Aires in the last 40 years of the eighteenth century.
A separate mention deserves the study on the youth of Manuel Belgrano in Europe, between 1786 and 1794, in which it is known what caused him the misfortune on the life and heritage of his father in 1788, his empirical and cultural training product of his self-taught and informal readings; and the many obscurities in the early career of the hero (false documents or ostentation of titles that he did not possess).
