Daniela Garino uses the methodology of oral history techniques supported by an important bibliographical collection and achieves something very special: to provide a human, authentic and moving image of the German immigrants who arrived in the postwar period (1945-1960) in Uruguay.
Through oral testimonies of the protagonists and their photos or their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, life emerges with all its richness and nuances. Because although it is the third and last wave of immigrants, the book refers to the previous ones, with well-known personalities such as August Hoffmann, Hugo Tidemann, Ernesto Quincke, Carl von Metzen and Hermann Stahl, among others.
