500 years after the landing of Hernán Cortés and his hosts on the sandy shores of the current port of Veracruz, it is difficult to make an exact reconstruction of what happened during his first trip to the heart of Moctezuma's empire. The different testimonies written at the time only give us a partial idea of the routes and the events that occurred in that crucial period.
After an extensive review of historical and archaeological sources, the National Laboratory of Oral Materials (LANMO) proposed to visit the main points of the so-called "Ruta de Cortés" with its mobile unit, to document oral sources and try to contribute images, sounds and ideas. to the discussion of this research topic. The results can be seen live on the CCUNAM and LANMO Facebook pages this October 28 at 12:30 p.m.
Cortes route. Lyrics, voices, images is the result of that trip. Although this is a research book in the strict sense, our intention is that it works at the same time as an invitation to visit the places, to read the sources and to listen to modern voices. The book itself is the story in images and texts of the trip we made to review, from the perspective that only space travel gives, what was and what remains of the events of 500 years ago.
