Reading César Vallejo is, for many, a captivating experience. Los heraldos negros, one of his best-known collections of poems, is studied from a novel perspective that reveals the presence, often conflicting, of various styles in the text: the romantic style coexists with the modernist style of Rubén Darío, and appears in several poems the clearly vallejian style.

César Vallejo, which began from the publication of the collection of poems in 1919 and continues to this day. His contribution is based on the cognitive linguistics of George Lakoff and Mark Johnson, and Bottiroli's General Textual Rhetoric. First, it outlines the context from the analysis of Vallejo's background in the Peruvian poetic tradition and his relationship with Romanticism and the Northern Group. Then, it examines the orientational metaphors, the most relevant characters and the styles of thought in some of the poems that make up the six parts of Los heraldos negros.
