"Sometidos a Esclavitud" contributes to the study of Atlantic history in which the enslavement of millions of Africans was one of the main factors that generated and promoted the development of the modern world. The formation of commercial networks, trading companies and private businesses helped to connect worlds and make them interdependent. Along with merchandise, individuals and products, ideas and traditions traveled that weaved Atlantic history. In it, enslavement, the enslaved and Afro-descendants were and are prominent parts, as shown by its present legacy of American cultures. These studies of the work are added to investigations that, from different countries, projects, research groups and approaches, are being carried out on a subject as rich, diverse and complex as Atlantic slavery. The temporary space that the chapters cover extends in time as did the trade and the slave system. The same happens with the territories affected by this phenomenon.
