The texts presented in this volume are the result of studies and reflections based on the compilation of stories from the oral tradition and archive documents from Mexico and other countries. Some of these narratives have their origin in pre-Hispanic cultures and others come from the colonial period. From different disciplinary approaches, such as literature, anthropology or history, we can notice the presence of different characters and places of the supernatural imaginary inherited from the pre-Hispanic and colonial periods in different regions of Mexico and other countries of Latin America. Some of these ethnographies of the supernatural were collected in situ, in specific contexts in which these stories are an important part of the sociocultural representations of the inhabitants. It is necessary to point out the importance of the documentation that is included in each of the articles, since it allows us to appreciate the tradition and diversity of texts that have spoken, in one way or another, of the supernatural. In this way, this diversity can be seen in the number of sections that were divided according to the characters and their actions.
