In recent decades the concern for the ecological situation of the plante has increased. Signs of environmental degradation, resultuing from centruies of overexploitation of ecosystems, are perceived as serious difficuties that humanity must face in order to secure the future of generations to come. The orgin of evironmental problems such as climate change, pollution, the investment effect, among other that are widely spreak today must be found in the past times. In this sense, never before as it been more important to know the way in which human beings, in this historial evolution, have transformed their environment and how they have faced the limits imposed by nature.
The National Archive of the Republic of Cuba joins these efforts, making available to all those interested in the study of the environment, an extensive database that brings together sources from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries realted to various related topics.
