Peoples in movement, peoples with great tensions and light-cured. In this book we want to echo the agrarian memories and experiences of the socio-environmental fluctuations of the indigenous communities of the municipality of Villa Purificación, in the south of Jalisco.

The polysemic concert on agrarian dispossession and socio-environmental vulnerabilities was built from the understanding and analysis of the voices of its inhabitants, sometimes in tune, sometimes highly dissonant.

From an interdisciplinary approach, we conceptualize environmental transformations as the dialectical co-production of human and extra-human nature through the fabric of life. Oral history allowed us to collect those silenced cries, where the controversies of the narrated stories confirm that there is not a single way to represent history, nor to see reality. The Jirosto and Jocotlán communities were stripped of their culture, their language and their lands. Agrarian conflicts born since the 19th century shake rancherías and towns even today, hindering collective action in the recovery of their lands and recreating a territorial and socio-environmental injustice.
