Mario Escobar Velásquez was a Colombian short story writer and novelist, winner of the National Novel Prize for Experiences in 1979 and the author of more than 15 books, among which the novel "Cuando pase el ánima sola" stands out, winner of the National Novel Prize. He was widely recognized as a critic, professor of literature, and director of one of the most important creative writing workshops in the history of Medellín.
