In the decade of the seventies, the Institute of Anthropology of the Veracruzana University undertook various archaeological projects in the state of Veracruz, one of them was the Zapotal Project as a result of the discovery, in the so-called mound 2, of a sculpture of the god Mictlantecuhtli , lord of the underworld.
