Elisa Sánchez Loriga, (AKA Mario), and Marcela Gracia Ibeas were married in the church of San Jorge in the city of A Coruña on June 8, 1901. Once the marriage was discovered, the authorities began a persecution that forced them to seek refuge in Portugal first and then in Argentina. This work reconstructs their history; the process to which they were subjected is analyzed, the public repercussion of the singular marriage is considered, and some keys are offered to illuminate their lives, united by friendship and love. The epilogue tells the news that they have received about them since 2008.
