The newspaper "La Mujer" was directed by the intellectual Lucrecia Undurraga. 25 issues circulated, between May and November of 1877, forming a total of 200 pages. It arose in the context of the demand for women's right to educate themselves professionally and scientifically. Their numbers are pronounced through the scope of the Amunátegui Decree, which allowed that same year (1877) that women could enter the university.
