"Las patentes de invención Mexicanas" is a study on the history of Mexican invention patents, from the country's independence to the culmination of the Porfiriato. This extensive historical journey identifies the socio-technical contexts that shaped the evolution of national patents. In this way, the subject of the patented invention is addressed as a socially configured phenomenon. Three key variables are considered: the institutional order in charge of regulating patents, the relevant social groups that requested them, and the fields of research that fostered Mexican inventions. This work was awarded the Francisco Javier Clavijero National Award in 2015.
