"Tallando una tradición" is a study on the international trade of Oaxacan wood carvings and their history, production, marketing, and cultural representations within the context of globalization. Author Michael Chibnik follows the carvings' production and consumption cycle through interviews with wholesalers, retailers, and consumers. He also studies how and why this invented tradition has been marketed as a Zapotec craft, and examines its similarities with other local crafts that have more established histories. This is a translation of the original English title, "Crafting Tradition. The Making and Marketing of Oaxacan Wood Carvings"
