"¿Te dio miedo la sangre?" is set during the Sandino years, weaving stories of three conspirator friends -- Taleno, El Jilguero, and Indio Larios -- the latter of whom is one of the most wanted men by the dictatorship, who in reality is dedicated to making piñatas in Guatemala, far from the fight. The work also centers around a whole court of common people, including bartenders, drunks, musicians, fishermen, gamblers, prostitutes, traitors, and more. Nicaraguan author Sergio Ramírez won the Cervantes Prize for this work, which he wrote between 1973 and 1975 in Berlin, in 2017. This edition includes prologue by Ramirez, written decades after the original publication.
