"La organización politica" is a study on the formation of political organization, or an indigenous proto-state, during the early Hispanic period in the southern Andes, also examining the sociocultural conditions that engendered this organization. The work also addresses how the Mapuche people of south-central Chile successfully resisted the Spanish conquest for more than 250 years in the 16th and 17th century, as a result of the formation of a confederate proto-state.
