"Gobernar en medio de la violencia estado y paramilitarismo en Colombia" provides a sociological analysis of the relationship between paramilitary violence and the State in Colombia, using regional studies to examine the role of armed groups in repressing social movements and political opponents, distributing resources, and economically exploiting marginalized groups. This work also analyzes violence on a national scale that needs to be addressed through security policy and the criminal justice system. This work is divided into two main parts: "Ejercer el poder por la violencia" and "Identificar y tratar el 'problema paramilitar'"
