"Escritores Chilenas del siglo XIX" is a volume of essays in which researchers provide critical analyses and exhume female writers largely ignored by literary history and the Chilean cultural canon, including Mercedes Marín, Carmen Arriagada, Rosario Orrego, Lucrecia Undurraga, Maipinade la Barra, Martina Barros and Amelia Solar. These authors developed their work during the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, a period marked by the construction of the nation and the conformation of the Chilean cultural and literary fields.
